Most videos now seem to be based around creating with AI alone. Yes, this can help create wonderful compositions, but is only a small part of the creation process. Nothing feels better than being able to create and imagine a work of art yourself, in addition to learning new skills. You are a true gem and an inspirational teacher. You seem to be one of the last "no-BS" tutorial creators out there. Straight forward and easy to follow, yet highly professional and without any distractions. Nothing worse than watching tutorials of people who are showing their faces more than the actual subject. Or who put music over their videos that just makes you want to mute it, but you can't, because you have to listen to what they are saying. Thanks, Marty. Seriously.

If it wasn’t for Marty’s tutorials I most likely wouldn’t have photoshop anymore. Just from the way he uses the shortcut commands constantly and first. Now that’s almost second nature for me. And it’s not just “hey, copy what I do.” He wants you to follow along but takes the time to explain what each option is for, what it does and other similar options to experiment with. Marty this is my first time commenting on any of your many videos. There is so much I want to say but will limit it all within a few words. I am not from any English speaking country. I would have been unable to study graphic designing anywhere during anytime before. There was not enough money. Even eating was a day by day experience never being able to ensure what would be available the following day. I began watching your videos 5 years ago. To make a long story short I am now a graphics designer in Mexico who fully provides for all of his family's needs by T Shirt Designing as well as Logo and Web Designs as well..... I retouch professional grade photographs and do thousands of personalized .custom designs each year for clients from all around the world thanks to the internet and YOU!!!! It took me a couple of years before I began seeing profits worth talking about but from being literally homeless and struggling for a plate each day to eat to having our own home, a car and the kids in private schools without struggling is a mouthful and something I am very grateful for due to the way you explain and the system you have implemented in achieving that objective. For me and for my family it was perfect. Your "Frequency Separation" tutorial shows the Best method hands down. Seriously. I’ve watched many tutorials of frequency separation from many top YouTube photographers! But I still couldn’t figure out what I was doing wrong. Or would always have some discoloration or look messy. And I was so close to giving up using frequency separation. Marty, your tutorials are always the most informative because you don't waste time talking about why you do things or your life history up to that point in each video or fill them with other irrelevant nonsense. Most of the tutorials on Yt were too technical and only focused on individual features, out of context with practice and workflow. You have changed it all for me. You lead us through the process of making something and through that taught me the functions and magic of PS in context with real things and real creations. Within a week, I got the confidence to doing things by myself and practicing on being better. Learning by doing is the most efficient way of teaching everything. A dash of passion, artistry and longing to learn does not spoil. :) I thank you sincerely for your help and hope to be able to contribute you for your productivity and effort. I am 58 years old, so that shows how effective your teaching is. If you can give an old fart like me the, way up in northern Iceland, the confidence to use Ps in a meaningful way in a week, I bet you make wonders for younger and quicker brains. I received my Associates Degree in Graphic Design and I swear, just by binge watching your videos, I have learned just as much in a week as I had in a year straight in class. While the classroom gives you the basics of Photoshop and how the tools work, just re-creating whatever is in the Adobe classroom book only gets you a grade. You tutorials give us the creative side of Photoshop and the things we can do with it. I believe you could be a college teacher and could teach more to the students than the teacher I had.

I have watched quite a few tutorials. Most seem not to understand that playing music and not talking through the tutorial is not a good way to teach. Others, talk, but talk fast and move from one action to another that make it hard to see what they just did. A few, talk slow enough to follow, but always seem to assume that the viewers know more than they do. I'm very impressed with your tutorials, so perhaps you can make a tutorial on how to make tutorials for all the other PS experts who don't know how to teach as well as you do?? Kudos!

Your tutorial showing how to create a logo using my own face was actually super informative. As someone who uses photoshop almost daily, I mostly expect simple stuff like layer management to be super over-explained, so the newer users don't feel lost. However, here, I actually found myself learning at least 3 or 4 new keyboard shortcuts/tricks that I can already tell I will be using ALL the time now. On top of that, your tutorial was a fairly quick video that firmly explained everything you need to know to make a full and complete logo, while not jamming too much information into the process, nor going overly specific and therby leaving the viewer feeling like they can't use these same tactics for other uses. Don't mean to sound like some kind of serious video professional/critic there, just thought the video was impressive. I'll need to go watch more of your videos now to see if I can pick up some other useful tricks!

I've used photoshop for many years and had no idea that I could adjust the spacing of words/letters by using the keyboard shortcut you used. That's very helpful because of lot of fonts that I download have problems with spacing. And the keyboard shortcut works in Illustrator too.

PS is only an evening hobby, kind of my daily therapy to decompress, so having these calls is sort of a testament to the info you've provided. One photographer is in Paris today. I don't charge them anything, like I said it's a hobby. So you can look at it like you've paid it forward. Fantastic stuff you do!

I am enrolled in an Astrobiology course at Harvard and I have made a few custom creations for friends. The 'Exploding Planet', 'Comet', and several of your projects to share with fellow students and they have been a big hit. I did a rendering of your 'Swamp Thing' for my brother, the 'Pencil Drawing' technique of my Dad that turned out so well that family members thought I actually drew it by hand and they appreciate it in memory of him. After a while though, I realized just how far I had come all due to you and your tutorials. Many times I have an idea, google it and right there will be a link to a blue lightning tv video. I would say that Marty is little short of a genius when it comes to all things related to Photoshop. As a median-level "Photoshopper", I'm always well up for learning more. I certainly tune in to his videos before I bother with most of the others out there; he speaks clearly and concisely (As a Brit I do sometimes have trouble understand some American accents, but his seems very clear) and I especially like the way he focuses on the keyboard shortcuts. The other huge advantage with his tutorials is that they never involve filters or plug-ins other than those provided with Photoshop: you can quite literally follow his projects with the most basic installation and turn out some truly great works of art. But with my Jobs, behind credits, and lack of GPA (based on life events that made it impossible for me to focus on school at the time). And with that being said, I could only read off of my friend's PS study books but that obviously requires time. With no one around town willing to teach me the wonders and complex dimensions of PS, I went to You Tube and I found YOU! I can go over a video five times and it never get annoying, you never say "ummmm", "uhhhh", or stall, and you have a standard normal American or Canadian accent. I have to often come up with banner/posters to help advertise my band and at points I've found myself frustrated not knowing how to do something that has turned out to be pretty simple. Thanks to a lot of your guides I've come leaps and bounds since starting to use it about 9 months ago, particularly over the last 3-4months. Before then I never would of known how to tackle something like the heart beat monitor. It impressed the rest of the band a fair bit :D I really just wanted to say thank you for taking the time to post such excellent tutorials.
